This meeting is officially sponsored by the International Research Group on Ostracoda (IRGO) and the Free University of Berlin. IRGO is affiliated with the International Paleontological Association under the International Council of Scientific Unions and UNESCO. We also hope to get sponsorship by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG).

Special sessions and workshops (suggestions):

- Recent and Quaternary freshwater ostracods in and near Berlin (e.g. research station at a modern eutrophic lake with ~25m of Holocene sediments) (2 days) (S. Mischke)
- Mesozoic ostracods from N Germany (3 days) (M. Schudack and M. Weiss)
- Recent brackish and fresh water ostracods from the Baltic Sea (sampling cruise) and inland lakes (P. Frenzel)
- Upper Cretaceous chalk of the Isle of Ruegen and freshwater and marine ostracods from the Quaternary of NE Germany (partly type localities of Klie and G.W. Mueller) (P. Frenzel)
- Eifel maar lakes (type locality of oligotrophic and eutrophic lakes)
- Recent marine ostracods of the North Sea
- Neogene ostracods from S Germany (H. Janz)
- Late Palaeozoic ostracods from the Carnic Alps (Austria) (B. Fohrer)

Mid symposium excursion: Sightseeing tour and ostracod sampling (boat trip) on lakes and rivers in Berlin
