1962-1965: Postgraduate Student at the Chair of Zoology of the Agricultural Institute of the Don (St. Persianovka, Rostov-on-Don district) under supervision of Prof. Dr. N.N. Kharin.

1966-1967: Leading of Marine Aquarium of Institute of Southern Seas in Sevastopol.

Since 1967 up to now: Junior Research Scientist, Senior Research Scientist, Leading Research Scientist of the Institute of Marine Biology, Far-East Branch of the Russian Acad. Sci., Vladivostok.

Married. Wife: Elvira S. Schornikova, artist. Daughter: Olga.

12)He has participated in many scientific expeditions to the Black, Azov, White, Barents and Far-East Seas, and also in different Tropical and Subtropical Seas of Pacific and Indian Oceans. I have participated in 3 International Symposia on Ostracods: 1979 - in Yugoslavia; 1982 - in U.S.A.; 1989 - in Germany.

Author of over 90 scientific publications including 4 monograps on Recent and Fossil (Silurian - Holocene) marine, freshwater and terrestrial Ostracoda and marine biology. I supervise the scientific works of students and postgraduates.

Main interest: Evolutionary morphology of Ostracoda; Taxonomy, ontogenesis and ecology of Ostracoda.

In Application aspects: Ostracoda as indicators of conditions and dynamics of water ecosistems (Ostracoda as indicators of anthropogenic pollution; Ostracoda as indicators of near-bottom water masses; Ostracoda as indicators of climatic global changes).
